Holiday festivities!

By Kristen Aquilino, International Career Fellow

The semester has officially come to a close and we are now on holiday break. The past few months have been full of growth, hard work, reflection, and discovery, and we want to say a big THANK YOU to all of our followers for joining us as we’ve shared about the first half of our fellowship experience!

Here is a glimpse of some of our holiday celebrations before we closed up shop and hit the road to spend time with family and friends…

At the beginning of the month we organized an inaugural “Fellows Retreat” – an occasion we’re hoping to have become a tradition for future fellows. This was a time for current and previous fellows to get together and discuss the fellowship experience including everything from general updates, challenges, and successes, to new ideas for next semester and for future fellows. It was also a time to take a breather from the hectic nature of the end of the semester!

So, off we went… Ashley, Marianne, Danielle, Amber and I… to experience some of Greensboro’s culture with Afternoon Tea at the O.Henry Hotel. It was truly a wonderful retreat as we exchanged stories and ideas, learned from each other, and enjoyed delicious tea, biscuits, and clotted cream.

The following week was full of holiday festivities. Amber, Danielle, and I honored the work hard, play hard mentality and excitedly attended a Tacky Christmas Sweater Party, a “Friendsgiving,” and set aside some time to bake treats for the SPDC team. As it turns out, we have quite the combination of culinary and craft talents among the fellows!

The last of our Elon celebrations was the much talked about faculty and staff holiday party. As promised, there was great food, lots of dancing, and, best of all, a photo booth! To contribute to the collection of fellow holiday photos, we made sure to get in line for a snapshot of the evening…

We wish you very happy holidays and a wonderful and fulfilling New Year!!
