School’s Out for the summer… er, Fall Break?

by Marianne Brigola, Career Counseling Fellow 2011-2012

Wednesday marked the end of our first Transition Strategies class. We spent the first half of the fall semester working with seven amazing young women, helping to prepare them for life after Elon. The students, ranging from sophomores to seniors, spent the first 8 weeks of the semester learning more about themselves through assessments like the MBTI, StrengthsQuest and Strong; learning how to develop strong resumes; practicing their interview skills; and learning how to build their network. I always looked forward to Monday and Wednesday afternoons learning more about the students and how the class was structured as well.

After fall break, Ashley and I will be co-teaching major-specific transition classes for Psychology, Math & Statistics, Business and Engineering. We’re both very excited to be collaborating with faculty members in those departments and the students we’ll be working with!
