When I hear the words “Boot Camp” I picture the following:
Fun right? Eh, not exactly my cup of tea.
Luckily, the 10 students who attended Saturday’s Job Search Boot Camp didn’t have to do any physical drills–but they did get a day long crash course in preparing for their job and internship search! The students were a diverse group, ranging from sophomores preparing to look for internships to seniors getting ready to start their job searches.
The students had the opportunity to learn how to develop a strong, targeted resume; where to find job search and internship resources; how to successfully prepare for an interview; and how to build their network and grow their professional relationships with others. Throughout the day, the students had to time to work on their resumes, practice mock interviews and even participate in mock career fair networking exercise.
I had the opportunity to present on interviewing. Very appropriate, as that was the topic I presented on when I interviewed for the Career Counseling Fellowship all the way back in May! Congratulations to our colleague Michelle Jones for a successful event!
