Over the past few weeks Ashley and I have been assisting our colleague Richard Jordan with resume reviews for students involved in Beta Alpha Psi in preparation for their annual Meet and Greet event. Beta Alpha Psi is a student organization for students in Accounting and Finance. Every year they organize a meet and greet event bringing accounting and financial firms to Elon to meet with potential future employees and interns. Essentially a career fair, the entire event is organized by the students.
This year, the students created a resume book to provide to employers prior to and at the fair. Over the past two weeks, Ashley and I have been meeting with students individually to give them feedback on their resumes prior to submitting it for the book.
We also had an opportunity to attend the event as well, just to mingle with students and help out wherever we could. BAP had a great turn out! For the first time, all 4 major accounting firms were represented at the event, which was fantastic. The event was also open to students who were not members of BAP as well.
It was great to see our students networking with employers. Most students seemed confident and excited to be there. We gave a few pep talks to some students, checking in with them and helping calm some nerves. It was great to get a sneak preview of what it’ll be like at the career fair next week.
Congratulations to members of Beta Alpha Psi for a successful event!
